3 Important PC Security Updates

 
 

Important security warnings and fixes for Skype, MS Office and Flash Player were released this week.

1) Malware is doing the rounds on Skype for Windows. Beware of an instant message that says “lol is this your new profile pic?”. More details here – Skype targeted by ‘worm’ malware infecting Windows PCs

2) Adobe have just released an important update for Flash Player on Windows, Mac, Linux and Android. The new version addresses ‘vulnerabilities that could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system’. Time to run an update or get the latest version of Flash Player.

3) Yesterday was the monthly Microsoft ‘Patch Tuesday’. The company released 20 software security fixes, including one critical update for MS Word whereby opening a malicious .RTF file or previewing it in Outlook could infect your PC with a virus that allows remote code execution.
